First photos of made-in-China Tesla Model 3 hit the internet

Tesla has posted photos of the first made-in-China Model 3’s their official Weibo account.

The photos were taken inside Tesla’s brand new Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, on the same day that Chinese media and social-media influencers were invited to check out the new vehicles. Many in attendance noted the build quality of the vehicles, noting there were no discernible panel gaps, something that plagued the early production version of the Model 3’s.

Some interesting things to note from the pictures is that these Chinese Model 3’s will have two badges on the rear, with the additional Chinese “Tesla” logo on the trunk. It is also being built with dual charging ports, giving owners in China the ability to use the large EV charging infrastructure already in place.

Tesla’s Gigafactory 3 recently completed construction, and is awaiting official approval from the Chinese government to begin production for the Chinese market. Tesla is also in talks with CATL for them to become the official battery supplier for Tesla in China, and possibly globally.
