Tesla is ready to expand Cybercab rides beyond Austin. According to a company executive, the specialised driverless cab will arrive in Dallas “soon.”
Dallas residents will soon be in on the Cybercab action, according to Tesla AI chief Ashok Elluswamy. The company executive revealed the expansion plan in an X post, responding to a celebratory post from the official Tesla robotaxi account.
The post noted how fast the Cybercab network has grown in the maiden launch city, Austin. The city now has more than 300 units of Tesla’s only vehicle without a steering wheel and pedals.
That is an 800 percent increase from when the vehicles hit the road about a month ago.
Two years since the 10/10 Cybercab WeRobot event, the cabs are everywhere in Austin now. Dallas soon.

Elluswamy then quoted the post with the next Cybercab port of call, posting “Two years since the 10/10 Cybercab WeRobot event, the cabs are everywhere in Austin now. Dallas soon.” However, Elluswamy did not give a firm timeline beyond “soon.” He joked on another post that his company is learning to be on time.
Dallas has recently received more autonomous driving attention from Tesla. The company increased Robotaxi’s coverage zone in the city by about 50 percent at the end of August.
The number of Cybercabs has gradually risen. The fleet included about 105 units at the end of September and rose to 200 shortly after, according to drone footage from a storage yard in Houston.
Tesla apparently is not ready to ship functional Cybercabs out of Texas yet. However, the EV maker is taking a demo unit across the Atlantic to display at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, from October 12 to 18. Tesla took the autonomous cab on tour in China, Australia, and New Zealand in September.
