Tesla has started calling Full Self-Driving (Supervised) ‘Tesla Assisted Driving’ in Europe, with the new name now on its UK, German and Dutch websites, days after Germany said Tesla had offered the rebrand during talks over EU-wide approval.
Tesla’s website describes a system that can steer, change lanes, navigate to a destination and park, all while the driver supervises. The page also stresses that the system doesn’t make the car autonomous.
UPDATE: Tesla has now officially renamed Full Self-Driving to “Tesla Assisted Driving” in Europe. In markets where FSD is not yet approved, the driver-assist package is called Tesla Assisted Driving Basic. https://t.co/gJT3PUBQjA

Tesla offered the name in September talks with Germany’s Transport Ministry, which had called ‘FSD’ somewhat misleading for a system that still needs an attentive driver. The ministry now backs EU-wide approval, and the name wasn’t the only thing the two sides settled.
Germany and Tesla also settled on a 10% ceiling for how far the system may drive above the limit, and Germany says it will back that cap in the EU approval process. Speed Offset can currently set the car’s speed as much as 50% over the detected limit, and Tesla hasn’t said whether its European build already enforces the lower cap.
The company has already published a video demonstrating the re-named feature.

The changes come at an important time for Tesla. The company has already secured national approvals in eight European countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Czechia, but has faced opposition from Sweden and France over speeding concerns.
The EU-wide vote has already slipped from October and won’t come before December.
With Germany now supporting Tesla’s efforts, and the new name already appearing on its websites, the company has addressed one of the concerns surrounding FSD’s European rollout. Whether those changes will be enough to secure broader approval remains to be seen.
