Rivian Beats Wall Street Estimates With Record Q3 2026 Deliveries

Rivian set a new quarterly delivery record in Q3 2026, beating Wall Street expectations as the EV maker continues to ramp production of the new R2.

The company announced on Friday that it delivered 19,248 vehicles during the three months ending September 30, comfortably ahead of the roughly 18,000 deliveries analysts were expecting.

Deliveries were also up sharply from earlier this year. Rivian handed over 12,194 vehicles in Q2, meaning deliveries jumped 57.8% quarter-over-quarter. Compared with the 13,201 vehicles delivered in Q3 2025, the latest figure represents a 45.8% increase.

Production followed a similar trajectory. Rivian built 19,751 vehicles during the quarter, up from 12,613 in Q2. All of those vehicles were produced at the company’s lone manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois.

The 19,248 deliveries also set a new quarterly record for Rivian. The previous high was 15,564 vehicles in Q3 2023.

The major reason for the boost in both production and deliveries is the arrival of the R2. Customer deliveries of Rivian’s smaller and less expensive SUV began in June, making Q3 the first full quarter with R2 deliveries included in the totals.

Rivian does not provide a model-by-model breakdown, so it is unclear how many of the quarter’s deliveries were R2s. The company is currently selling only the higher-priced R2 Performance through the end of 2026 as it ramps production.

That ramp is still evolving. Rivian previously said it expected to scale R2 production to two shifts by the end of Q3, although the company had not announced the start of that second shift as of Friday morning. Rivian has also pushed customer availability of the R2’s LiDAR hardware to 2027.

Rivian reaffirmed its full-year guidance of 65,000 to 70,000 deliveries, a range it raised in July from 62,000 to 67,000. Rivian said its Q3 production and delivery results were in line with its outlook.

With 41,807 vehicles delivered through the first nine months, Rivian needs at least 23,193 deliveries in Q4 to reach the bottom of its guidance, or 28,193 to reach the top

Rivian will report its full Q3 financial results on Thursday, October 29, after the market closes.
