There is one less Tesla Supercharger under construction in British Columbia after the new station in Vernon was turned on earlier this afternoon. This is the sixth Supercharger to open in the province in 2021, with another seven slated to be turned on in the coming weeks.
The new Vernon Supercharger is located at the Vernon Smart Centres (2200 58 Ave) in the same parking lot as Mark’s Work Wearhouse and Rona. There is also a Walmart nearby.
The station features 12 V3 Superchargers, which TMC forum user PoweredByRain confirmed were powered up and providing a charge to his Model 3 this afternoon.
As per the terms of Natural Resources Canada, which provided partial funding for the project, there are also 4 FLO DC fast chargers which also appeared to be online.
The Vernon Supercharger came alive just one day after a Tesla technician was visiting the site performing some final tests before activation. Based on a discussion with a Tesla owner, the technician said his next stops were Cache Creek, Williams Lake, Quesnel, and Prince George, so we can expect those Superchargers to come online shortly.
Other stations waiting to be either finish construction and be activated in B.C. include Merritt, Osoyoos, and Invermere.
