Tesla owners running Full Self-Driving (FSD) v14.3.9 on HW4/AI4 vehicles are getting hit with false camera alerts and service prompts even when the windshield glass is clean – and Tesla Support has now confirmed it is a software bug.
According to a report from Not a Tesla App, drivers across the fleet started seeing the alerts shortly after the 14.3.9 rollout. On X, user @CARN0N shared confirmation from a Tesla Support representative that the company already knows about the false camera and cleaning messages.

What’s going wrong
The same update that introduced Automatic Collision Evasion also appears to have made the vision encoder’s camera-visibility checks far too aggressive. Minor sun glare or ordinary optical conditions can be misread as a dirty camera that needs service.
Inside the car, the Camera Visibility diagnostic is even more specific: “Poor camera visibility detected. Interior windshield residue cleaning is required.” Under normal circumstances that message would send owners to book a service appointment or try cleaning the forward windshield camera themselves — a housing that is not easy to reach.
What Tesla is telling owners
Because the alerts are software-driven, you do not need to pry the camera housing and you should not rush to book a cleaning visit. According to reports from owners on social media, Tesla Service is already cancelling scheduled windshield-cleaning appointments, saying the alert stems from a known bug and that service is not required.
If you already paid for an interior windshield cleaning and the warning came back on the drive home, contact Tesla Support. Advisors are expected to issue credits or refunds once internal guidance is standardized.
Is 14.3.10 the fix?
Tesla has started rolling out FSD v14.3.10, and while the release notes match 14.3.9, it appears the issue may have been resolved in the update.
