VinFast to begin VF9 deliveries in Vietman next week, North American release date still in the air

Vietnamese automaker VinFast is set to deliver its VF9 electric SUV to local customers on March 27, 2023. VinFast has confirmed that the delivery will take place simultaneously in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City, with further deliveries at VinFast stores across the country in the days that follow.

The deliveries are later than originally planned as VinFast was hoping to debut the VF9 earlier this year.

VinFast Vice Chairwoman Le Thi Thu Thuy said, “I believe that, along with VinFast’s attractive initial ownership cost and outstanding after-sale services, the VF9 will win the hearts of those who have put trust in VinFast through their reservations and waiting for more than a year.”

Following the Vietnamese market, VinFast expects to export the first batch of VF9 SUVs to international markets soon. VinFast has so far only delivered 45 VF8 SUVs in California, starting earlier this month, after shipping 999 of them to the US in December.

The VF9 is VinFast’s largest SUV, with dimensions of 5,118 x 2,254 x 1,696 (mm), and is suitable for full-size 7-seater or 6-seater configurations. It also features two trims, the Eco and Plus.

The electric motors in the first VF9 batch, produced for the Vietnamese market, will have a maximum power of 300kW (402 hp), maximum torque of 620Nm, and a usable battery capacity of 92kWh. VinFast VF 9’s fastest charging time, from 10% to 70%, is 26 minutes, and it has an estimated range per full charge of 438km for the Eco and 423km for the Plus.

As VinFast’s most premium EV model, the VF9 comes with a host of advanced features, including massage, ventilation, and heating features on the front seat rows, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, and an 8-inch rear screen on the center console for the second seat row. The VF9 also features a wide range of advanced technologies, including the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and Smart Services.

The VF9 starts at $103,750 in Canada and $83,000 in the US.
