VinFast exports next shipment of VF8 SUVs for Canada and US

VinFast announced it has exported its second batch of VF8 electric SUVs destined for both Canada and the United States. A total of 1,879 VF8 SUVs were loaded onto the Silver Queen, which departed from the MPC Port in Haiphong, Vietnam for North America on Sunday.

The ship is expected to arrive at the Port of Benicia in California after more than 20 days at sea, putting a tentative arrival date at around May 6, 2023. Once it has arrived in California 1,098 vehicles will be offloaded for US customers, while the remaining 781 vehicles will continue their journey to Vancouver for Canadian customers.

VinFast says they expect to be able to begin US deliveries in May and Canadian deliveries in June, pending the completion of import procedures and obtaining the required licenses and certificates.

This is VinFast’s second export to North America, but the first to include the VF8 standard. The VF 8 standard series is available in two trim levels – Eco and Plus – and offers a higher estimated range than the previously delivered “City Edition” to US customers in March.

VinFast’s VF 8 Eco is fitted with a 260 kW electric motor that delivers a peak torque of 500Nm, while the Plus version boasts a maximum power of 300 kW and a peak torque of 620Nm. The VF 8 Standard series also comes equipped with the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes a range of features such as auto lane changing assist, highway assist, fully-automated parking assistance, smart summon mode, remote parking, and more. VinFast plans to regularly enhance and update the ADAS with new technologies.

European customers waiting for delivery of their VF8 SUV will have to wait until mid-July 2023 when approximately 700 vehicles will be exported.
