Tesla says goodbye to Robson Street store in Vancouver, B.C.

Seven years after it first opened, Tesla has shuttered one of their store locations on Vancouver’s famous Robson Street.

Famous for its shopping and dining experiences, Robson Street in downtown Vancouver is also home to some of the highest rents in Canada. It was those high rents that partially drove the decision to permanently close the showroom. According to sources familiar with the matter, Tesla decided not to renew its lease at 929 Robson Street.

The former showroom, located between Hornby and Burrard Streets was Tesla’s second retail location in Canada when it opened in 2014. Customers could get an up close look at vehicles on display in the showroom, and also book and take test drives.

The greater Vancouver area is still home to three other retail locations. The newest just opened in Surrey where Tesla took over the former Jonker Nissan dealership at 19505 Langley Bypass.

Vancouver Island was also hoping to get its first Deliver and Service Center, but negotiations on the former Volvo dealership in Victoria recently broke down.
