Tesla has started delivering the Model YL in India. This comes more than a month after the company started accepting orders.
According to a post made on X by Nikkhil Masurkar, one of the first owners to take delivery, the six-seater EV was handed over at Tesla’s showroom in Mumbai. The electric SUV has a glacier-blue exterior, and Masurkar raved about its battery and driving experience.

Tesla opened orders for the extended wheelbase version of its popular SUV in April, with deliveries scheduled for June. The Model YL starts at approximately C$91,000/US$66,000 in India.
The Model YL offers a driving range of 681 km (WLTP). It has a top speed of 201 km/h and can move from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. It can be customized in several colors, including Stealth Gray, Diamond Black, and Ultra Red.
Buyers in India can also place orders for the Model Y Premium (RWD), which starts at about $61,000. Tesla only introduced this version in India last month, replacing a more expensive Long Range variant.
Tesla officially set up shop in India in July 2025. However, sales have dragged, with the company selling only 350 Model Ys up till April 2026. The slow pace of sales can be attributed to the high selling prices, inflated due to the country’s 100% import duties.
Tesla, however, is not abandoning the Indian auto market, even though it has reportedly walked away from local manufacturing plans. The American automaker recently opened a new Tesla location in Bengaluru, where customers can view and try out the Model Y and Model YL. It is also expanding its Supercharger network to major cities.
