Tesla’s most recent factory in Shanghai, China opened early last year after less than one year of construction. Built from the ground up based on the automaker’s specifications, Tesla was able to layout the production lines exactly as they wanted, instead of shoehorning them into another company’s building design.
The difference this makes has been highlighted by Tesla themselves, showing how disjointed the production lines are at Fremont compared to Giga Shanghai.
With the streamlined production process, Giga Shanghai has quickly earned a reputation of high build quality. Tesla China is now showcasing their quality control with a new video showing the various stages of production.
The nearly 2-minute long video gives viewers an inside look at the stamping process, Giga Press casting, battery pack manufacturing, the state of the art paint shop, and the general assembly area where workers put on the car’s final touches.
Tesla’s caption for the video is “A Tesla is more than the sum of its parts, because we have rigorous quality control and attitude.” This quality control will surely make its way to Tesla’s next factories, Giga Texas and Giga Berlin.
