Tesla discontinues Tire Repair Kit due to supply shortage, new updated version coming in “several months”

If you have been putting off buying a Tire Repair Kit or extra Tire Sealant from Tesla, you are going to have to wait several months to purchase them.

Supply shortages have forced the automaker to discontinued and remove both of them from the online shop.

Until as recently as earlier this week Tesla offered the Tire Repair Kit for $75 CAD ($60 USD), which was a small air compressor to re-inflate tires if they were flat. The kit also included a one-piece sealant canister to repair the puncture. Additional canisters were also available for $33 CAD ($25 USD).

Both have now disappeared from the Tesla Shop.

A Drive Tesla reader who had an existing order for the kit was notified yesterday by Tesla that it has been discontinued. As a result his order has been cancelled and a refund will soon be issued to his credit card.

In the email Tesla cited a “supply shortage” as the reason for the sudden cancellation. The company did say a new version will be released, but that it won’t be available for “several months.”
