Tesla shuts down Hamilton Supercharger as V4 replacement starts construction [Ontario]

Tesla is making some major changes to its Supercharger network in Hamilton, Ontario, with the company decommissioning one station while building another at CF Lime Ridge.

Construction has started on a new 16-stall V4 Supercharger at the Hamilton shopping centre, which is also home to Canada’s largest showroom and Service Center (soon to be replaced by Vancouver’s new location).

Based on photos shared on the TMC forum, construction is well on its way with the Supercharger posts already installed, although we can’t tell if the associated cabinets and transformer have also been installed.

While Tesla owners in Hamilton wait for the site to be energized, they will be without Superchargers in the city for some time. Last week the former Supercharger with 20 V2 stalls that had been serving Tesla owners at CF Lime Ridge for years was closed and is now being decommissioned.

However, this one isn’t being replaced because of aging equipment. The area occupied by the former charging station will soon be redeveloped to make way for the new CF Lime Ridge Transit Terminal.

Fortunately for local Tesla owners and drivers passing through Hamilton, the closure won’t mean the permanent loss of a Supercharger at the mall.

While the replacement station will feature 16 V4 stalls, a slight reduction from the 20 stalls at the old site, the newer hardware should improve the overall charging experience with faster charging speeds and, as a result, quicker turnover. The V4 posts also feature longer charging cables, making it easier for non-Tesla EVs with charge ports in different locations to plug in.

This isn’t the only Supercharger Tesla has recently decommissioned in Canada. In June 2025 the company was forced to remove an 8-stall V2 Supercharger at CrossIron Mills shopping center just outside of Calgary due to a lease dispute with mall management.
