Tesla leads U.S. brand loyalty again in 2026, beating Subaru, Toyota and Ferrari

Tesla has taken the top spot in S&P Global Mobility’s latest U.S. automotive brand loyalty rankings, with 61.1% of Tesla owners returning to the brand for their next vehicle purchase.

The latest data puts Tesla ahead of every other automaker in the U.S., beating out the likes of Subaru at 60.5%, Toyota at 59.9%, and Ferrari at 59.7%. Tesla also stood far above the industry average, which came in at 52.7%.

Tesla’s result also marks a strong year-over-year improvement, climbing from 54.7% in the previous year. That 6.4 percentage point gain suggests that despite growing EV competition, Tesla is still doing a strong job keeping owners within its ecosystem.

That ecosystem remains one of Tesla’s biggest advantages. Owners get regular over-the-air (OTA) software updates, access to the Supercharger network, strong efficiency, and features like Full Self-Driving (Supervised). For many buyers, the convenience of never visiting a gas station again is also a major factor.

The results line up with something Tesla owners often say: after driving a Tesla, other vehicles can feel outdated. The combination of instant torque, minimalist software-focused interiors, charging convenience, and continuously improving features has helped Tesla build a level of loyalty that legacy automakers are still chasing.

The rest of the top 10 included Lucid at 57.9%, Ford at 57.8%, Chevrolet at 56.7%, Nissan at 55.7%, Mercedes-Benz at 54.7%, BMW at 52.9%, and Kia at 52.9%.

As for other EV makers, Rivian posted a loyalty rate of 28.6%, up from 21.6% the previous year, while Polestar came in at 34.9%. Lucid’s strong 57.9% result stood out among newer EV brands, although smaller sales volumes can make luxury and low-volume automaker rankings more volatile.
