Rivian R1T spotted in Vancouver, BC ahead of Canadian deliveries

With the first deliveries underway in the US and production starting to ramp up ahead of deliveries in Canada, a Rivian R1T has been spotted in Vancouver, BC.

The stunning Compass Yellow R1T was seen driving along the Westminster Highway, just outside of Vancouver yesterday morning.

The R1T was outfitted with the optional 22″ Sport Bright wheels, which add $2,500 CAD to the already hefty $90K+ CAD base price of the electric truck.

The R1T did not have B.C. plates on it, as the company is only expecting to begin deliveries north of the border in January 2022.

This isn’t the first time a R1T has been spotted in BC. All the way back in 2019 Rivian brought an early prototype to Ucluelet, on Vancouver Island. The truck was there to film promotional material, much of which is still on the company’s website today.

Rivian is based in California and has their manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois, but also has a very large and growing presence in Vancouver.

The company opened its first office in early 2020 in Vancouver’s Yaletown district. The office houses close to 100 employees who work mainly on the vehicle’s infotainment software and mobile app development.

There are currently 32 job postings based in Vancouver on Rivian’s careers website, with almost all of them involving software engineering.
