Rivian Discounts 2026 R1T and R1S Inventory Ahead of 2027 Model Year

Rivian appears to be clearing the way for its next model year. The company has begun applying discounts to in-stock 2026 R1T and R1S models, suggesting production of the 2027 lineup could begin production sooner rather than later.

A review of Rivian’s online inventory shows a range of price reductions across in-stock vehicles, with the biggest savings applying to the R1T pickup. Most Dual-Motor R1T configurations are now listed with a $2,000 discount, while Dual-Motor R1S SUVs have received a more modest $500 price cut.

Higher-end trims have also seen larger reductions, including some Quad-Motor R1S variants with discounts reaching as much as $5,000. The discounts were first spotted by Rivian owner and enthusiast Chris Hilbert on X.

So why is Rivian discounting inventory now? Automakers often add discounts at this time of year as production shifts to the next model year, and Rivian appears to be following that familiar strategy. While the company has not officially announced the 2027 R1 lineup, these inventory incentives suggest a transition could be approaching.

That said, the current discounts are relatively modest. A $2,000 reduction on an R1T priced around $85,000 to $95,000 represents only a small percentage of the purchase price, and the $500 discount on most R1S Dual models is even less significant.

If Rivian is indeed preparing to begin production of 2027 vehicles, buyers hoping for clearance-style pricing may need to be patient. Historically, manufacturers tend to increase incentives as remaining inventory shrinks and the new model year becomes widely available.

Unless Rivian expects demand to remain particularly strong, deeper discounts than $2,000 or $500 would not be surprising in the coming weeks.

For shoppers who were already planning to purchase an R1T or R1S, however, the newly reduced pricing provides an opportunity to save without waiting for potential future promotions that may never materialize on every configuration.
