Porsche US sales grow nearly 45% in Q1 2021 with help from strong Taycan performance

After disappointing results in 2020, Porsche announced their first quarter US sales yesterday and it was the second best quarter in the automaker’s history.

From January to March Porsche recorded 17,368 deliveries in the US, an increase of 44.8% from the same quarter in 2020. That was just 192 units off their all-time high of 17,560 sales in Q4 2020.

Leading the way for Porsche was the Macan and Cayenne vehicles, making up more than half of the sales. The iconic 911 was the third best-seller with 2,782 units sold in the US.

Following close behind was the all-electric Taycan, which was delivered to 2,008 new owners in the US. That was nearly 10 times the number of Taycan’s sold in the first quarter last year.

Porsche US salesPorsche recently released the first software update for Taycan owners. Owners must visit a Porsche dealership to install the update because the drive components and transmission needs fine tuning and calibration after the completion of the update.
