Lucid Air warranty and service model announced

As Lucid gets closer to a release date for its first electric vehicle (EV), the Lucid Air, the company has announced the EVs warranty and service model.

Lucid Air Warranty

With Lucid being a startup with no previous experience in the automotive industry, many were wondering what type of warranty coverage they would include for the Lucid Air. In an update to their website this morning, Lucid announced a comprehensive warranty schedule that competes with the likes of Tesla and Rivian.

The Basic Vehicle warranty is good for four years, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is the same as Tesla’s 4 year/50,000 miles Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty.

The Powertrain and High Voltage Battery warranties are also basically the same as Tesla. Both are covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles, with the battery also covered if it drops below 70% of its original capacity.

Tesla offers the same coverage in terms of length of time, but offers more generous mileage terms for the Model S/X (150,000 miles), and Model 3/Y Long Range and Performance (120,000 miles)

There are also additional warranties for Corrosion Perforation (10 years/unlimited), Body and Paint Repair (4 years/unlimited), and Supplemental Restraint System (5 years/60,000 miles).

Lucid Mobile Service

The company also revealed details about its service model, which is strikingly similar to Tesla’s. Known as Lucid Care, the company will employ a fleet of mobile service vans that will bring certified technicians to the owner’s vehicle, whether it be at home or in a parking lot at your workplace.

If you’re a coffee drinker, you’re also in luck as each service van will also be outfitted with a coffee machine. No information was provided if there will be something available for non-caffeine drinkers.

Before the Lucid Mobile Service van arrives, they will be able to perform remote diagnostics on the car to determine the issue. Depending on the cause, they may be able to issue over-the-air (OTA) software update to correct it.

If the issue is more serious, Lucid will tow your vehicle to one of their Service Centers for free.

To support the service model, Lucid will also offer 24/7 roadside assistance with live support, which is offered as complimentary for the first 4 years or 50,000 miles.
