Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Software Upgrade Boosts Acceleration and Torque

Owners of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT can now purchase a new over-the-air (OTA) upgrade that delivers a substantial boost in torque and acceleration, making it one of the quickest crossovers on the market.

This new upgrade, available for a one-time fee of US$995, can be installed through the FordPass app, and gives owners an extra 100 lb-ft of torque, bringing the total to 700 lb-ft. This not only improves the vehicle’s acceleration from 0-60 mph to just 3.3 seconds but also allows it to cover a quarter mile in 11.8 seconds at 114 mph.

This puts the Mach-E GT with the Performance Upgrade ahead of rivals like the Tesla Model Y Performance and the Porsche Macan 4S Electric.

Ford says the upgrade leverages a new in-house developed rear motor, along with advanced thermal management and electric motor control algorithms, to squeeze out every bit of performance from the dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, all without altering the peak power output of 480 horsepower.

Despite the boost this upgrade provides, some might question the ethics of charging for performance that could have been included from the outset. However, this practice is not uncommon in the automotive industry, and Tesla offers a similar Acceleration Boost for the Model 3 and Model Y.
