BMW Canada announced a major extension of their public charging access across Canada through a partnership with Shell Recharge.
With the new partnership, BMW and Mini apps will show the current availability of Shell Recharge stations, compatibility, and Tesla Supercharging stations.
Shell Recharge is one of the leading apps for convenient EV charging across multiple brands and chargers. Users can locate, activate, stop, and pay for charging sessions right in the app, instead of downloading yet another charging app. As of March 2026, Shell Recharge supports chargers from Shell Recharge, FLO, ChargePoint, Circuit Electrique, BC Hydro, EV Connect Canada and Tesla Superchargers.
In addition, BMW and Mini users can now access eRoute trip planning in the BMW and Mini apps, enabling seamless navigation and charging stops.
For those who already use NACS, these new charging locations will automatically load in the app over the next few days. However, if you have CCS ports, you will need to purchase a Lectron Vortex Plus NACS-to-CCS DC Adapter. Once purchased, you can then add the adaptor to your app options and open up the NACS charging locations on your in-app map. To add the adaptor, go to Charging > Adapters > Add Adapter > “NACS (DC)” in the app.
