Air Canada Chauffeur Service goes electric with Porsche Taycan

Air Canada has teamed up with Porsche to electrify its chauffeur service at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

Previously powered by a fleet of internal combustion engine BMWs, the new Porsche fleet will consist of the all electric Taycan, as well as the hybrid Panamera and Cayenne.

Signature Class (business class) customers arriving at Toronto Pearson from within Canada and connecting to Asia, Europe and South America will be selected on a “surprise and delight basis” and chauffeured in one of the three Porsche’s to the carrier’s Signature Suite lounge, which reopened last month.

The chauffeur resumed operations on April 21, 2022 after being shut down due to COVID-19. The service first launched in 2018.

The airline says they will expand the chauffeur service to the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) “later in 2022”, following the reopening of its Signature Suite Lounge at the airport this spring.

The effort intends to support Air Canada’s objective of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 across all of its global operations.
