Nissan is making the 2027 LEAF significantly more affordable in Canada, adding a new entry-level S trim that gives the electric crossover a starting price of just $34,998.
That makes the LEAF S the lowest-priced new electric vehicle (EV) in Canada, according to Nissan. It also qualifies for the federal Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP), dropping its effective price to $29,998 with the $5,000 incentive available in 2026. That amount will be reduced to $4,000 in 2027.
While you get a lower price with the new entry-level LEAF, it also comes with a smaller battery. The rest of the LEAF lineup uses a 75 kWh pack, but the S gets a 53 kWh battery powering a 174-horsepower electric motor. Nissan estimates it will deliver up to 341 km of range.
Moving up to the S+ brings the larger 75 kWh battery, 214 horsepower and up to 488 km of estimated range for $45,198.

Despite being the cheapest model, Nissan hasn’t stripped the S of many of the LEAF’s more useful features. It comes standard with dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a heat pump, battery heater, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability and Nissan Safety Shield 360.
Charging is also notably different from many EVs. The LEAF has separate J1772 and NACS ports, allowing Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging through J1772 while the NACS connection provides access to compatible DC fast chargers.
The S+ and higher trims also receive an upgraded 11 kW onboard charger for 2027, which Nissan says can cut Level 2 charging times by roughly 35%.
The new LEAF S will arrive at Canadian Nissan dealerships this fall.
