Tesla has issued two more Service Bulletins for the refreshed Model Y, this time targeting suspension-related noises that some owners have reported when driving over rough roads or bumps.
The new bulletins come shortly after Tesla released a separate Service Bulletin for Giga Berlin-built Model Y vehicles to address squealing front brakes. With this latest bulletin, focus now shifts to Fremont and Giga Texas built vehicles in an effort to reduce rattling and knocking noises from the front of the vehicle.
Tesla identifies suspension-related noises
According to Service Bulletin SB-25-31-005, some refreshed Model Y vehicles “may emit rattling or knocking noises when driving over bumps or rough road.” Tesla says the issue can be improved by:
- Replacing the front upper control arm (FUCA) mounts
- Replacing the front damper assemblies on Premium and Performance trims
- Removing the wiper bracket pencil braces
Tesla technicians are instructed to first confirm the noise during a short road test under 20 mph (32 km/h). The bulletin even references an internal Toolbox audio example to help identify the sound.
One particularly interesting aspect of the repair is Tesla’s decision to remove the so-called “wiper bracket pencil braces” entirely. The bulletin specifically notes that the braces do not need to be reinstalled after removal.
Second bulletin targets vehicles already repaired
Tesla also released a second bulletin, SB-26-31-003, which applies to vehicles that have already had the FUCA mounts replaced and the pencil braces removed, but still exhibit the same noise symptoms.
For those vehicles, Tesla says the solution is to replace both front damper assemblies with updated parts.
The repair procedure itself is relatively straightforward, with Tesla estimating the work will take less than an hour. However, like the brake rotor bulletin released earlier this year, the repair cannot be completed through Mobile Service and requires a visit to a Service Center.
Which vehicles are affected?
The suspension bulletins apply across the refreshed Model Y lineup in North America, including vehicles built at both Fremont and Giga Texas. However, Tesla notes that “Model Y Standard vehicles already have an updated damper coil assembly and do not require the replacement,” meaning the additional damper replacement primarily affects Premium and Performance trims.
Owners experiencing rattling or knocking sounds from the front suspension when driving over uneven roads can reference SB-25-31-005 or SB-26-31-003 when creating a service appointment through the Tesla app.
Another recent Model Y bulletin addressed brake noise
These new suspension bulletins follow closely behind Tesla’s recently issued Service Bulletin SB-26-33-002, which addressed reports of squealing front brakes on certain 2025 and 2026 AWD Model Y vehicles built at Giga Berlin. In that case, Tesla instructed Service Centers to replace the front brake rotors on qualifying vehicles with less than 50,000 km if owners reported squealing noises during braking, particularly in cold or humid conditions.
That bulletin was issued after some owners reported being told the noise was a normal characteristic before Tesla formalized a repair procedure.
