Tesla Model 3 delivery wait times approach 1 year in the US, Model Y not far behind

It appears as though people in the U.S. just can’t get enough of Tesla, and wait times are getting close to one year for the entry-level variant of the Model 3.

In a recent update to the Design Studio, anyone looking to buy the Standard Range Plus (SR+) Model 3 should be prepared to possibly wait until August 2022 to receive their new car.

The extraordinarily long wait time is only for the white paint option and stock aero wheels. Any other configuration improves the wait time by four months to April 2022.

Despite the higher price tag, even the entry-level Model Y is seeing wait times of up to nine months. Similar to the Model 3, only the white paint option with the stock Gemini wheels is affected.

Unlike previous updates to the estimated delivery dates for both vehicles, the changes are only for US customers.

Canadians buying either the SR+ Model 3 or LR Model Y are seeing April delivery dates. This is an improvement from earlier this month when dates were showing as June and July.

In an attempt to get buyers to pick non-standard options, the online configurators have been updated to select the optional wheels as default.
