Polestar announces the start of Polestar 3 production

Polestar has announced two significant milestones in terms of the upcoming Polestar 3.

The company confirmed that production of the Polestar 3 has started in its Chengdu, China facility. Polestar also confirmed that early test production of the Polestar 3 was a success in its new facility in Ridgeville, South Carolina.

The expectation is for Polestar 3 production to start in the United States in the middle of 2024. However, Polestar did not give an exact timeline as additional production tests are still to come in the new United States facility.

Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, said this about Polestar 3 production:

This stunning car takes a significant step forward with start of production marking an important milestone on our journey from a one- to three-car company this year. We have also achieved launch readiness at the factory in Ridgeville, South Carolina, and are well on track with our plans to start manufacturing Polestar 3 in the USA.

The Polestar 3 will be the first Polestar vehicle assembled on two continents (Asia and North America). As well, The Polestar 3 will be the first Polestar vehicle produced in the United States. However, Polestar has not confirmed if the Ridgeville factory will produce any other models besides the Polestar 3, such as the upcoming Polestar 5.

As of right now, Polestar has assembly locations in Chengdu, Ningbo and Luqiai in China, as well as Busan, South Korea and Ridgeville, United States.
