Chile job postings hint at Tesla’s South America expansion

Tesla may be off to conquer more territories in a big way, as the EV maker has posted a new job in Chile that suggests a potential entry into the South American continent.

Earlier this month Tesla published a job job posting for the position of Country General Manager in Chile, based in Santiago. According to the LinkedIn description of the post, the successful candidate will be instrumental in launching the Tesla brand in the country. The candidate will “identify, develop, and execute activities to launch and develop the market; create a customer base, grow market share, and deliver an exceptional ownership experience.”

The country manager must speak English and Spanish and have successfully built a business in Chile. Tesla has its work cut out for it picking the right candidate as the vacancy advert has attracted more than 2,500 applications.

Tesla is recruiting for two other roles in Chile; Tesla Advisor and Service Technicians. The former will help Tesla expand its market presence and interest in the brand, while the latter will carry out diagnostic and repair work on Tesla’s products.

It has been speculated that Chile will serve as an entry point into the South American continent. Tesla’s sister company, Starlink, has secured permission to operate Starlink in the country.
