Tesla to hold special Midnight Cherry Red debut event this weekend

Tesla will officially debut the all-new Midnight Cherry Red colour for the Model Y at a special event this Saturday in Germany. Tesla first announced the new colour in October 2022, along with Quicksilver, both of which are exclusive to Giga Berlin.

Over the last few months Giga Berlin has slowly been producing Model Ys in Midnight Cherry Red, with occasional sightings of them on the grounds of the factory complex. Since March several examples of the new colour have been spotted on local motorways on their way to showrooms across Europe. Despite sending them out nearly two months ago, those showrooms have kept them under wraps, but that will finally change this Saturday, May 6 2023.

Tesla has started inviting customers to a special Midnight Cherry Red debut event at the Tesla showroom in Parsdorf, Germany, a small town just outside of Munich and about six and a half hours south of Giga Berlin. According to an invitation received by a member of the TFF forum, the event will run all day from 9:00am until 6:00pm, with food trucks and a crêpe stand, as well as a bouncy castle for kids. There will of course be at least one Midnight Cherry Red Model Y on display for owners and prospective owners to check out.

Midnight Cherry Red and Quicksilver are only available from Giga Berlin because of the factory’s advanced Paint Shop. According to CEO Elon Musk the colours have “many fine layers of paint, giving it complexity not otherwise possible.” It was later explained that up to 13 layers of paint are used to create the new colours, giving them incredible depth and dimension in different lighting.
