It gets to a stage in the development of a car that the company can longer hide it. Porsche has long reached this stage with the Macan EV, with pictures of the car regularly making the rounds on the internet. The latest sighting involves a fleet of prototypes undergoing winter testing in Northern Europe, according to Motor 1.
At least five prototypes appear in the video as they drive over snow-covered roads. They can be seen taking multiple turns. It is not clear what the purpose of the test is.
While the Macan EV is not expected until 2024, the upcoming electric vehicle has been spotted repeatedly. With many different registration plates reported, Porsche must use many prototypes in its tests.
The Macan EV is based on the new Premium Platform Electric, which Audi also shares. The SUV generates 603 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque in its dual-motor configuration. Porsche promises a less expensive rear-wheel drive version at a later time. The dual-motor version is equipped with a 100 kWh battery, with 96 to 98 kWh usable. There is no information on the driving range, but the EV uses an 800-volt architecture that allows it to accept up to 270 kilowatts.
Porsche plans to continue offering the ICE Macan for the time being.
