The first Tesla Supercharger along British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast is now under construction in Sechelt.
We first learned about the Sechelt Supercharger when Tesla added it to their map as a location coming soon in August last year. Then in March we learned it would be built at the Tsain-Ko shopping center.
This week, construction finally began on the 12-stall Supercharger. One of our readers Erwin spotted the construction and sent us these photos, showing the groundwork and underground wiring has been completed. Some of the Supercharger equipment has been installed, and it looks like the next step will be to install the pedestals.
Tsain-Ko shopping center is located at 5500 Sunshine Coast Hwy. The exact location of the station is in front of the Ricky’s All-Day Grill. Other nearby amenities include A&W, Bento Sushu, and Shoppers Drug Mart.
According to Tesla, the Sechelt Supercharger is expected to open in Q3 2022. The Tsain-Ko shopping center was originally hoping to have it open in the spring, and said they would evaluate the usage of the 12-stall station over the summer and if there is sufficient demand, they will expand and add more stalls.
There are three other Superchargers currently under construction in British Columbia in Revelstoke, Castlegar, and a second location ie being built in Squamish.
