Harold Green Road next to Giga Texas is now officially known as Tesla Road.
Travis County Commissioners unanimously approved the name change at a meeting on Tuesday night.
If you are reading this and thinking to yourself this is old news, you are partially right.
A miscommunication between the Texas Department of Transportation and Travis County resulted in new road signs being put up on Texas State Highway 130 in November, directing drivers to Tesla Road instead of Harold Green Road.
The new signs even caught the eye of Omead Afshar, the Project Director for the Office of the CEO at Tesla.

At the time, even Google Maps was updated to show the new road name. After it was revealed Harold Green, Google changed the name back.
The renaming does not mark the end of Harold Green Road, a name that has existed since 1976.
As part of the deal to rename the road, Tesla has agreed to work with county official to build a new Harold Green Road north of Giga Texas to preserve the name, according to KVUE.
Giga Texas has been under construction since mid-2020, and is expected to bring tens of thousands of jobs to the area.
After originally hoping to start production before the end of 2021, it appears Tesla could begin production as soon as this week.
