Tesla Cybercab heading to Dallas next month

Gold Tesla Cybercabs lined up at the Austin Robotaxi launch

Tesla is preparing to bring its purpose-built Cybercab to Dallas next month, marking the next step beyond Austin, where Cybercab rides began on September 3 and now run until midnight.

The news came during Tesla’s Q3 2026 earnings call, where executives also said the Cybercab fleet in Austin has grown tenfold since launch. Tesla is also adding Grok to the two-seat vehicle, turning it into more than just a way to get around.

Tesla already operates Model Y Robotaxis in Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando and Tampa. As we recently reported, Tesla says its Robotaxi fleet has driven millions of autonomous miles, and its Q3 2026 Update says cumulative unsupervised Robotaxi miles were close to two million when the quarter closed.

“The Cybercab fleet in Austin for example has grown by a factor of 10 since launch about a month ago,” CEO Elon Musk said on the call.

Ashok Elluswamy, who leads Tesla’s AI software efforts, confirmed Dallas is next for Cybercab.

“We want to swarm Austin with Cybercabs everywhere [..] there’s no fundamental reason that we are limited to Austin. In fact next month we’ll be launching in Dallas and then the same software just scaled to lots of other cities along with the Model Y robotaxis,” Elluswamy said.

Asked in a shareholder question about Tesla’s 30-cent-per-mile target for Robotaxi unit economics, CFO Vaibhav Taneja said: “are we at our goal of 30 cents today? No. But do we see a path to get to that? Very, yes we do. And it’s all about scaling operations.”

With Dallas next on the list, the coming months will show how quickly Tesla can scale Cybercab beyond Austin.
