Lucid has revealed new details about its expansion into France, with the network set to grow past 16 sites nationwide before 2028.

Lucid made the announcement Monday at the Paris Motor Show, its first appearance at the event, with both the Air and Gravity on display.

The first three sites are slated to open in Q1 2027, and Lucid says they are already in the final stages of planning. The company has not disclosed where these facilities will be located, but each will offer vehicle sales and servicing.

Lucid is working with Emil Frey France to establish the network. The partnership was first announced in September and represents a change from Lucid’s original European strategy, which relied primarily on company-owned showrooms.

The automaker has already started moving toward this approach in other markets.

French customers will have two vehicles to choose from. The Lucid Air starts at €86,900, with higher-end versions offering up to 960 kilometres of WLTP range. The Gravity SUV starts at €95,900 and offers seating for seven passengers and up to 739 kilometres of range.

Orders are expected to open in early 2027, although customers can already place reservations through Lucid’s French website.

The expansion comes as Lucid continues struggling to establish a meaningful sales presence in Europe. Through September, Lucid had registered only 256 vehicles in its five European markets, virtually unchanged from the same period last year.

Globally, Lucid delivered 3,806 vehicles in the third quarter.

The expansion also comes just days after Lucid borrowed another $400 million from an affiliate of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), bringing its outstanding loans under the credit agreement to approximately $2.1 billion and leaving just $400 million available under the $2.5 billion facility.

France will become Lucid’s sixth European market, although the company has yet to announce when customer deliveries will begin.
