SpaceX’s Starlink has added another major airline to its customer list, with KLM set to launch free high-speed Wi-Fi on intercontinental flights in mid-2027 before expanding the service to its full fleet by mid-2028.

The announcement was made by KLM president and CEO Marjan Rintel during an event on Wednesday to celebrate the release of the company’s 2026 edition of the Delft Blue miniature house.

The Dutch carrier will follow sister airline Air France, which already operates Starlink-equipped aircraft.

For KLM passengers, the agreement will make long flights considerably more connected, whether they want to watch their own entertainment, catch up on work or stay in touch with family. KLM currently offers its Flying Blue members free text messaging on intercontinental flights with Wi-Fi, while broader access requires a paid pass.

The airline also introduced free internet on equipped European flights earlier this year. Starlink will elevate its in-flight experience considerably with complimentary high-speed, low latency connectivity to the long-haul network.

Starlink has also reached Canadian skies through WestJet and regional flights on Air Canada, while Royal Air Maroc has signed an agreement targeting fleet-wide installation by 2027, becoming the first African airline to make the move to Starlink.
