Lucid Q3 2026 deliveries fall as automaker draws down inventory

Lucid’s production slowdown became much more apparent in the third quarter of 2026, with the EV maker building significantly fewer vehicles while deliveries remained relatively steady.

The company announced Monday that it delivered 3,806 vehicles during the three months ending September 30, while production came in at 2,954 vehicles. Deliveries were therefore 852 vehicles higher than production.

However, both figures declined from the previous quarter. Lucid delivered 3,953 vehicles and produced 4,774 in Q2, putting Q3 deliveries down about 4% and production down 38% sequentially.

The year-over-year (YoY) comparison also moved in the wrong direction. Lucid delivered 4,078 vehicles and produced 3,891 in Q3 2025, meaning deliveries declined about 7% and production fell 24% compared with last year.

The lower production was expected as part of Lucid’s operating reset. The company eliminated the second production shift at its AMP-1 factory in June and has been deliberately been focusing on converting existing inventory into customer deliveries. Lucid says the broader restructuring is targeting $1.4 billion in cash flow improvements this year.

Lucid’s numbers stand in contrast to Rivian, which had a record quarter. Rivian delivered 19,248 vehicles in Q3, up nearly 58% from Q2 and 46% year-over-year, while producing 19,751 vehicles. That means Rivian delivered more than five times as many vehicles as Lucid during the quarter.

Lucid says demand for the Gravity SUV continued to regain momentum, with the lower-priced Gravity Touring recently opening for orders in Canada and the U.S.
