SpaceXAI is getting another new name. Just a few months after xAI was rebranded following its merger with SpaceX, the newly formed SpaceXAI is being renamed again, this time to SpaceXSI.
Musk confirmed the planned change on Sunday, after replying to a user on X who asked about renaming SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. Musk replied, “Yes, we will make that change.” In a separate post, he also wrote, “No more AI,” and said SI is better.
SI stands for “Super Intelligence,” and the change follows a push by U.S. President Donald Trump to replace the term “artificial intelligence” with “super intelligence.”
Trump signed an executive order on September 29 titled “Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence.” It directs federal agencies, where permitted by law, to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official communications, reports, websites and policy documents.
The order also asks the White House science and technology adviser to propose legislation within 60 days establishing a federal definition.
Musk did not provide a timeline for the SpaceXSI name or explain whether it will be a legal name change or simply a branding update.
The SpaceXAI account had not changed, and no formal company announcement had followed.
The latest change comes just months after xAI was rebranded as SpaceXAI in July. Before that, SpaceX completed its acquisition of xAI on February 2 in a deal valuing the combined company at US$1.25 trillion. SpaceX later went public on the Nasdaq in June under the ticker SPCX.
