Lucid is rolling out one of the biggest updates yet for the Air’s infotainment system, but owners of some earlier vehicles won’t be able to get it through a simple over-the-air (OTA) update.
Air UX 3.0 began rolling out this week as part of Software Version 2.11.0, bringing the Air’s interface in line with the newer Lucid Gravity. Model year 2025 and newer Air vehicles can receive the update through a free OTA software update.
However, owners of 2022, 2023 and some 2024 Air vehicles face an extra step, and cost. Those cars require an upgraded infotainment processor to run Air UX 3.0, with Lucid pricing the hardware upgrade at US$950. Pricing outside the U.S. hasn’t been announced.
For owners who can make the upgrade, UX 3.0 changes several of the Air’s most commonly used screens. A redesigned Home interface uses swipeable cards for media, vehicle controls, calls, saved destinations and nearby charging stations. New Quick Controls are also accessible by swiping down from the top of the Pilot Panel.
Route planning is getting more flexibility. Drivers can tell the navigation system which charging networks they prefer, account for charging adapter compatibility, and set a minimum amount of range they want remaining when arriving at their destination.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also get a notable change. Both can now expand across the full right side of the Air’s Cockpit Display, providing considerably more screen space than before. Lucid says reliability and performance have also been improved, with both wireless and wired connections supported.
The update adds faster profile switching and tighter controls around linked keys and Guest profiles, including six-digit PIN authentication.
Lucid says owners of older Air vehicles can contact Customer Care to determine whether their car is eligible for the processor upgrade.
