Tesla has officially launched its first Supercharger stations in Colombia, adding new fast-charging locations in Bogotá and Medellín as the automaker continues expanding its presence in one of Latin America’s fastest-growing EV markets.
The announcement was shared through the official Tesla Charging account on X, which posted, “¡Hello, Colombia! 🇨🇴 First Colombian Tesla Superchargers now open in Medellín and Bogotá.”
The opening comes after the Tesla Model Y became the best-selling vehicle overall in Colombia for two consecutive months, highlighting how quickly the automaker has gained traction in the country.
First Colombian Superchargers
The larger of the two locations is in Medellín at Unicentro Shopping Mall, where Tesla installed eight V4 Supercharger stalls capable of delivering speeds up to 325kW. The station is accessible 24 hours a day and currently charges Tesla owners a base rate of COP 1,300/kWh (C$0.49/kWh/US$0.36/kWh).

Tesla’s Bogotá station is located at Andino Shopping Mall and features four V4 Supercharger stalls, also capable of charging at up to 325kW. Like the Medellín location, it is available 24/7 with the same charging rate.

Tesla Expanding Charging Infrastructure in Latin America
Alongside the station openings, Tesla enabled Supercharger Voting for Colombia, allowing owners and supporters to vote on future charging locations across the country.
Max de Zegher, Tesla’s Director of Charging for North America and Europe, said expanding into new markets remains central to the Supercharger team’s mission.
“We spend a lot of time supplying charging demand in mature markets. But the reason @TeslaCharging started, its ‘raison d’être’, is the freedom to roam anywhere in an electric car,” de Zegher wrote on X.
“That’s why opening up new markets is special and meaningful to work on. A lot of work ahead, but excited to start scaling Superchargers here. LATAM needs awesome infrastructure for its transition.”
Supporting Tesla’s Rapid Growth in Colombia
Tesla’s arrival in Colombia has accelerated quickly over the past year. After opening orders and demo drives in the country late last year, the automaker rapidly climbed the national sales rankings thanks largely to strong demand for the Model Y.
In April alone, Tesla registered more than 2,600 vehicles in Colombia, making it the country’s third best-selling automotive brand overall.
While Tesla has operated in several South American markets for years, Colombia represents one of the company’s fastest-growing regions. EV adoption in the country surged more than 300% in April 2026, with nearly one in every five new vehicles sold being fully electric.
