Mattel is making another Tesla die-cast, but this one is a little different than the rest. According to the toy company, the new Tesla Roadster is made from 99% recycled materials and certified CarbonNeutral®.
The new Roadster is the first toy in their product roadmap called Drive Toward a Better Future. The company has a goal of 100% recycled, recyclable, or bio-based plastic materials across all of its products and packaging by 2030.
Matchbox’s Roadster is made up of 62.1% recycled zinc, 36.9% recycled plastic. The remaining 1% is made of not-recycled stainless steel. The packaging is also compostable.
The Matchbox Tesla Roadster will be available in 2022. Mattel has already launched a EV themed five-pack of die-cast cars. The package includes an EV charging station.
Before the Matchbox Roadster arrives, Mattel will be releasing a Hot Wheels Tesla Cybertruck. It has appeared in some unboxing videos posted to YouTube, and should begin appearing on store shelves within a month or two.
