Tesla is getting another challenger for its Model S Plaid with the launch of the Zeekr 001 FR. The Chinese EV maker revealed the high-performance EV but is yet to announce pricing details.
The Zeekr 001 FR is a quad-motor EV with a total output of 930 kW and torque of 1280 Nm. The power is enough to propel the EV from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in just 2.07 seconds, minus rollout. And 2.36 seconds with rollout. Top speed is 280 km/h.
In comparison, the Model S Plaid produces 760 kW and completes 0 km/h to 96 km/h in just 1.99 seconds without rollout.
The Zeekr 001 FR comes with a 100 kWh battery supplied by CATL, coupled to an 800V electric architecture. It can charge from 10 to 80 percent in a quarter of an hour.
Other features of the Zeekr 001 FR include tank turn (seen in the video below), which off-road enthusiasts will appreciate. The performance EV boasts carbon-fibre front splitter, roof, side mirrors, rear wing, and racy diffusers.
The interior features an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.4-inch touch-enabled display for infotainment and accessing the settings.
There are no pricing details yet. However, there won’t be many buyers as Zeekr plans to deliver 99 units per month, suggesting the pricing might be in the luxury range.
Zeekr secured $750 million in funding earlier this year to fund its ambition to start selling in Europe.
