Tesla has opened another Supercharger in northern British Columbia, with a new eight-stall station going live in Terrace on Tuesday afternoon. The opening comes just one day after the company activated its new location in Vanderhoof.
The Terrace Supercharger is located at Skeena Mall at 4741 Lakelse Avenue. Construction began earlier this year in February, and as of this afternoon is now appearing on Tesla’s navigation as a new charging option along Hwy 16.
The station features eight V4 Supercharger stalls capable of delivering up to 325 kW of charging power. Charging rates are identical to the newly opened Vanderhoof location, with Tesla owners paying $0.24/kWh and non-Tesla drivers paying $0.32/kWh.
Is Prince Rupert Next?
With Vanderhoof opening Monday and Terrace following Tuesday, the next logical opening is Prince Rupert, where Tesla has another Supercharger waiting to be energized.
It is possible the Tesla technician responsible for commissioning the two stations is now making their way farther west to activate Prince Rupert.
However, completing the corridor between Prince George and BC’s northern coast will still require one or two more stations to fill the nearly 500 km gap between Vanderhoof and Terrace, a distance that would be difficult to cover on a single charge, especially in the dead of winter.
