Tesla rolls out futuristic horn sound for all Cybertruck owners

Tesla has given Cybertruck owners the option to add a new futuristic horn sound. While this new horn sound has been available on recently built Cybertrucks, this feature is now being made available to all Cybertruck owners seamlessly through a pop-up in the mobile app.

If you don’t own a Cybertruck, you can also add the new horn sound to your Tesla through Boombox, although you will only be able to use it while in PARK.

The new horn sound was announced through the Tesla mobile app. According to the message, Cybertruck owners can preview the new horn sound and decide whether to replace their vehicle’s traditional horn with the new tone. Interestingly, Tesla says that the change is permanent and cannot be reverted to the original, and more traditional, horn sound.

To access the new horn, users simply need to agree to the prompt in the app, there is no additional over-the-air (OTA) software update required.

Here’s what the new horn sounds like. You can tell just how loud it is by the reaction of the person standing next to me while I was taking the video.

For Tesla owners without a Cybertruck, the Boombox feature offers a chance to join in on the fun. Accessible through Toybox in the vehicle’s infotainment system, this feature allows drivers to customize their horn sound, but unfortunately only when in PARK.

For instructions on how to setup Boombox, you can read our guide here. Once you know how it works, you can download the MP3 of the Cybertruck horn sound here.
