Tesla appears to be preparing a broader expansion of its vehicle rental program, with new job postings indicating the service is coming to at least four additional U.S. states.
Last year we reported that Tesla had launched its rental program at a showroom in San Diego, California, allowing customers to rent a Tesla for three to seven days starting at $60 per day. The program includes unlimited mileage, free Supercharging, Full Self-Driving, and even offers renters up to a $250 credit toward the purchase of a new Tesla if they place an order within seven days of returning the vehicle.
At the time, it wasn’t clear whether the program was limited to California or if Tesla planned to expand it nationwide. However, new job postings now show that after a successful run in California, Tesla is preparing for an expansion to more parts of the country.
According to the postings, Tesla is currently hiring Rental Readiness Specialists in Owings Mills, Maryland; Lenexa, Kansas; Washington; and Pennsylvania. The role is dedicated specifically to the Tesla Rental Program, with responsibilities that include managing rental fleet inventory, preparing vehicles for customers, coordinating pickups and drop-offs, processing rental paperwork, and handling invoicing. The listings suggest Tesla is building the operational teams needed to support rental fleets at these locations before the service officially launches.
While Tesla has not yet announced opening dates for the new markets, the expansion will likely follow the same model first introduced in California. Customers can expect rentals lasting three to seven days, complete with free Supercharging, Full Self-Driving, and unlimited mileage, priced at $60 per day for Model 3/Y and $75 per day for Cybertruck.
