Rivian trademark application reveals possible e-bike production

Rivian has filed to a trademark registration that hints the automaker may be expanding beyond just automobiles and into the world of electric bicycles (e-bikes).

According to the documentation filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on January 8, 2022, the trademark registration covers e-bikes themselves, and the various parts that go into manufacturing one. (via Rivian Forums)

It should be noted that trademark and even patent applications are not a definitive sign that the company is preparing to launch a product covered under the filing.

However an expansion into the world of e-bikes would make sense for a company who’s tagline is “Keep the world adventurous forever.”

If Rivian does venture into e-bikes, owners might be able to use one of the company’s recent patent applications to cleverly store their bikes in the door of the R1T tailgate to save space in the bed of the electric truck.
