Rivian adds surround view backup camera in OTA software update

In some good news for Rivian owners, the automaker has deployed their latest software update and added a surround view backup camera.

The new feature was revealed by Instagram user Kate (@ambosrivian), who shared a photo and video to her page showing off the new feature in her R1T.

According to the video, the surround view has been added to the regular backup camera as an optional view on the left side of the screen.

Owners can also toggle between the front and rear cameras on the right side of the screen. It does not appear as though the surround view can be enlarged while making the camera view smaller.

The video also shows you can still access the previous backup camera views.

This option displays a feed from the rear camera, with views from the cameras on both sides of the vehicle to show how close you are to the curb.

Unfortunately Kate did not specify what version number the feature arrived in. If any of our readers received this update, let us know in the comments below.

The video was posted as a story to Instagram, which has since expired, but we have saved it and you can watch the feature in action below.
