Lexus has confirmed they will unveil their Lexus RZ 450e EV on April 20 at a “global event” online.
The RZ 450e is the first ground-up EV that Lexus has produced.
Although no new information was included in the announcement, we know a fair bit about this vehicle.
The RZ 450e is built on the same e-TNGA platform that the Subaru Soltrerra and Toyota bZ4X use. It will also include the same 71.4 kWh battery pack and dual-motor powertrain as the highest range bZ4X.
Although the size and shape are similar to those two vehicles, the RZ 450e does differ in its exterior design.
The RZ 450e includes a ducktail spoiler and a pair of winglets on the tailgate. The wheel arches and bumpers are also paired down to give a cleaner and slimed-down appearance.
We still have yet to see details on the inside, but from the limited video evidence, the interior looks to match the bZ4X.
The vehicle will also include steer-by-wire technology and DIRECT4, which constantly monitors the driving force on the wheels depending on the throttle, steering inputs and road conditions.
Lexus did not reveal a price for the RZ 450e as of yet. However, many expect it to align with the pricing of the Lexus hybrid RX, which starts at around $60,000 in Canada.
The is slated to go on sale later this year.
