Hyundai has officially provided a first glimpse of its upcoming all-electric SUV, the IONIQ 9, positioning it as the latest and largest addition to its EV lineup, set to make its debut in November.
Building on the success of its predecessors, the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, the IONIQ 9 adopts Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). With an emphasis on spacious interiors, the E-GMP platform enables Hyundai to provide ample room across three rows.
The IONIQ 9’s design philosophy is described as ‘Aerosthetic’ by Hyundai. Drawing inspiration from nautical elements, the SUV features a single-curved roofline inspired by the silhouette of a streamlined vessel.
Another nod to heritage comes through the IONIQ 9’s side character lines, inspired by the traditional Korean clothing, Hanbok.
Beyond aesthetics, the IONIQ 9 is expected to deliver competitive performance metrics. While technical specifications remain under wraps until the November unveiling, it’s anticipated that Hyundai will offer configurations for single motor and dual motor all wheel drive setups for differences in performance levels and driving ranges.
This is just the first of several glimpses Hyundai will share of the IONIQ 9 leading up to its world premiere, as the automaker says it will continue sharing more details and teaser images across its social media channels until its debut.
