Tesla has increased pricing for the Model Y in the US and China, one week after lowering prices for the electric SUV in Canada. The price increases affect only the Model Y Long Range variant in the US, and the Model Y Performance in China.

After a series of price cuts, the most recent of which was just earlier this month that brought the Model Y down to new lows in the US, Tesla slightly increased the Model Y LR price in the US by $500 on Thursday night, now starting at $48,990. The prices for the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Performance variants remained the same at $43,990 and $52,490.

Meanwhile in China, the Performance variant of the electric SUV saw a more substantial price increase in China. Unlike how Tesla operates in North America, making the price changes quietly on the website leaving fans to discover them, Tesla China announced the price increase on its official Weibo account. According to the post the Model Y Performance now starts at ¥363,900, which is a ¥14,900 (~C$2,800) more than it was before. The RWD and LR variants remained the same at ¥263,900 and ¥299,900 respectively.

The price changes weren’t the only updates Tesla made to its Design Studio last night. The company also added a new Stealth Grey colour for the Model S and Model X built at the Fremont factory. The new colour replaces Midnight Silver Metallic, and like with all other paint options on the two flagship vehicles, Stealth Grey is included in the base price of the vehicle.

Canada adds 103 DC fast-charging stations in Q3 2026 but expansion slows

Canada’s EV fast-charging network continued to grow during the third quarter of 2026, but the pace of new installations is slowing despite increasing demand from electric vehicle drivers. According to the latest report from charging data firm Paren, Canada recorded 103 fast-charging station additions between July and September, including 93 new locations and 10 expansions of existing sites, bringing 391 additional charging ports online. By the end of September, Canada’s network had grown to 2,740 DC fast-charging stations with 9,615 ports nationwide. Quebec accounted for nearly half of the quarterly station additions, with 49, followed by Ontario with 22 and British Columbia with 18. Alberta added just five. While the numbers show continued investment in charging infrastructure, the pace has dropped considerably. Station additions were roughly one-third lower than during the same quarter last year, while the 391 new ports represented the slowest quarterly growth in more than a year. Tesla remains an important part of Canada’s charging network, adding 88 Supercharger stalls during Q3. However, Paren’s data shows its share of the country’s fast-charging ports has declined from 36% a year ago to 32.1%, as competing networks continue expanding. While fewer new chargers are coming online, Canadians are making greater use of the existing network. Paren tracked 3.84 million fast-charging sessions between July and September, up 37% from the same period last year.
