Car carrier full of Tesla Model Y Performance cars spotted leaving Giga Berlin

Tesla was hoping to begin production at Giga Berlin before the end of the year. With just one day left in 2021, it doesn’t look like that is going to happen.

Tesla hasn’t been sitting on their hands while they wait for final approvals. We have previously reported that hundreds of Model Ys have been built at the factory in preparation for opening day.

When production does finally begin, the first cars to roll off the production line will be the Model Y Performance.

In another sign of the automaker’s progress, a car carrier full of newly built Model Y Performance cars were spotted leaving Giga Berlin today. (h/t: @tesla_adri)

A total of six black Model Ys were seen on the car carrier, with at least two of them missing the rear bumper.

According to the person who spotted the new cars, the truck was heading west from the factory, but its destination is unknown.

The cars could have been on their way to crash or validation testing prior to the start of production.

We still don’t know when Giga Berlin will be allowed to start production, but it should be soon. Last week we reported that all the necessary paperwork to receive the final approvals had been submitted, both from Tesla and the relevant authorities.
