New visualizations in the Tesla holiday software update work on HW2.5 equipped vehicles [Update]

When Tesla released the highly anticipated holiday software update, 2020.48.26 yesterday, one of the big features was a change to the in-car visualizations.

So far the update appears to be limited to vehicles equipped with the exterior Pedestrian Warning System (PWS), which was added to production around September 2019. As a result, we were unsure if the new visualizations would work on vehicles equipped with the older HW2.5 computer, which was phased out around May 2019.

Fortunately Drive Tesla reader Bo has a September build that was delivered with the HW2.5 computer and the PWS, and confirmed with us he also got the new visualizations with the update.

UPDATE: The new Santa Mode also works!

First seen on the Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta software, the new visualizations change the layout of the screen with less space given to the map on the right hand side. There is also a gorgeous new visualization of the car while parked that reacts in real time to the windows and doors opening, and even the wheels turning.

Did you also receive the holiday software update with a HW2.5 equipped Tesla? Let us know in the comments below.
