Tesla begins deliveries of first Long Range RWD Model 3’s in China

Tesla recently announced the addition of the Long Range rear-wheel drive Model 3 for the Chinese market, after discontinuing the same model in North America last year.

Just six weeks after the announcement, the automaker began deliveries of the first units to some lucky customers on Wednesday.

The Chinese version of the LR RWD Model 3 comes equipped with a 77kWh battery pack, fairly close to the battery pack that was used in the now discontinued North American version.

The Model 3 Long Range in China starts at ¥344,000 (around ~$67,400) after incentives.

Tesla China VP Tao Lin recently announced that Giga Shanghai will meet its targeted mid-year production goal of 4,000 units per day by next month. Lin also revealed the Model Y will begin production and deliveries in Q1 2021.
